Orange County Rocker and Bar Owner Mike Conley Dies E-mail
Tuesday, 04 March 2008

Well known in the Southern California music scene and beyond, Mike Conley, lead singer of 80's punk band MIA was found dead in a Chicago parking lot this week. He was 48. Our condolences go out to his friends and family during this difficult time.

He was also the owner of nightlife hot spot Avalon Bar in Costa Mesa, a TLS favorite. His venue was known for bringing in talented DJ's from all over and slinging 32 oz. Miller High Lifes in a brown bag.  Just our kind of place. The bar is dimly lit and covered with Mike's own custom cabinetry, truely one of the few legitmately cool spots for nightlife in Orange County. For information on the fund that has been set up to help support his wife and three daughters visit mikeconleyfamilyfund.com.

I knew Mike years ago. And what a great guy. I moved, we lost touch, but he was always there for me if I called and needed a friend to talk to. Sorry to see him pass.
