Norfolk & Western: Independent Music Supergroup E-mail
Friday, 07 December 2007
Portland-based folk group Norfolk & Western are somewhat of an underground conglomeration of key players from many independent groups. Adam Selzer, who plays guitar and bass for fellow Portlander M. Ward started making music for a recording project in his studio, Type Foundry Recording. Rachel Blumberg, the current drummer for M. Ward and ex-Decemberists drummer, joined Selzer shortly after the first record. She is currently playing music with Bright Eyes as well. Norfolk & Western incorporates many other local artists into their live show, so the performance is as dynamic as it gets in the world of independent music. The group's unique folk style is catchy and easy to listen to. Their current album is titled The Unsung Colony and is available via the band's MySpace.
