Interview by New Reform NR: How are those frequent flyer miles coming along? Ian Moreno of The Little Ones (LO): Horrible. They're spread across different airlines. And then sometimes you forget to add your member number or realize you didn't sign up for one. Then you have to go back and try to claim them. Wait, was that a rhetorical question? |

Tegan and Sara's mid-summer release of their fifth album "The Con" delivered a much needed heat wave to this season's releases. But don't let the "Twin-Girl-Canadian-Lesbian" label fool you, this is no novelty act, these talented sisters have plenty to offer up on their stellar new album. In the midst of their extensive touring, our music editor Jason Estopinal had the chance to chat with the anti-Olsen indie rockers, Tegan and Sara Quin, about cover songs, Halloween costumes and mullets. photo: www.gazette.uwo.ca |

Ian MacKaye is a complex individual in that he deals with basic issues and brings them to a new level. I have read, as I’m sure many have, tons of Ian MacKaye interviews. This is the Ian MacKaye of the Teen Idles, Minor Threat, Embrace, Fugazi, and the Evens. I would consider Ian MacKaye to be the J.F.K. of punk rock. He is controversial - not like the playboy, but like a misunderstood muse. In the interviews I have read, Ian MacKaye comes off from a defensive standpoint, as many interviewers try to wrap him up in punk rock controversy. But Ian MacKaye is full of substance - sincere, committed to his family, his music, and anyone who wants to hear his story. Ian MacKaye has earned the unspoken title of a punk rock father and a pillar in the underground scene. While denying this, graciously, he still takes time to connect with all who will listen. In an attempt to dive into the world of Ian MacKaye, we tried to peel off just a few of the layers of this musical genius. NR- The Evens: who, what, and mostly why? IM- Amy Farina, Ian MacKaye, a band, to play music. |
