The Super Bowl is coming up and there is much hype surrounding the players and personalities on and off the field. Tom Brady was recently nominated for the Best Man in History at Everything Award, with particular focus on his sense of style. Not to take anything away from him, but it doesn't take Armani to study the GQ diagrams and figure out that it is nearly impossible to fuck up the shirt, tie and v-neck sweater look. It has also become apparent that almost anything looks good when you accessorize with a supermodel on your arm. This got us thinking about the real fashion revolutionaries of the sporting world both currently and through the past. What follows is a unique mix of athleticism and dandyism in our list of the Top 7 Most Stylish Sports Icons of all time. ![]() 7. Ichiro Suzuki: Outfielder, Seattle Mariners This Japanese sensation surprised the league with his speed and unorthodox hitting style a few years back. With the majority of his baseball colleagues looking about as groomed as Canadian hockey players, his original style off the field stands out as well. ![]() 6. Michael Jordan: Guard, Chicago Bulls One earring and a mustache? MJ is the only one that can pull this off without looking like a pirate or a pedophile. ![]() 5. Steve Nash: Guard, Phoenix Suns In a league where most of the guys come out of the locker room looking like Deion Sanders in a Stacy Adams advert, Nash's old tee and jeans look is a breath of fresh air. ![]() 4. Camilo Villegas: PGA Golfer This young Columbian has an unfair advantage on the rest of the competition. Whereas most athletes apparel sponsorships are limited to the Adidas and Under Armor crowd, Villegas is dressed by Swedish designer J. Lindeberg. I am sure he is the only athlete whose uniform is debuted on the runway in Milan. ![]() 3. Bjorn Borg: Tennis Player Borg was the model for Luke Wilson's character Richie Tenenbaum in Wes Anderson's 2001 film The Royal Tenenbaums. The epitome of great retro style, he splits the gap between the boring Boris Becker and over-the-top John McEnroe. ![]() 2. Payne Stewart: PGA Golfer Khakis and monochrome polos are for Best Buy managers. In his signature old-school style, Stewart was not going to let that happen to the game of golf. ![]() 1. Joe Namath: Quarterback, New York Jets Look at this guy. Even in the 70's, you had to own it if you were going to rock around the locker room in this coat without getting your ass kicked. I doubt anyone said a word.
