Famous for their green-branded tractors and farm equipment, John Deere has just announced that it is venturing into the world of denim production. Their intention to manufacture jeans was announced at this year's MAGIC tradeshow in Las Vegas.

The company has had success with their branding on trucker hats and "vintage" t-shirts but viewed those items as promotional giveaways. Now they are looking to make durable work pants for farmers and laborers which will be sold in John Deere stores and farm equipment stores in rural areas come Fall. If they do things right, my guess is that it won't stay rural for long and will quickly be snatched up by trendy boutiques across the country. Hopefully they can avoid the horrific results some of their contemporaries have had making the jump from equipment manufacture into clothing design. Here is a look at a some of the worst creations to come from the farmer turned fashionista.

Caterpillar: Forget about skulls, 8 balls and flaming dice. What the boys really want on their silk bowling shirt is a backhoe. You dig? And what better way to rid yourself of the farmers tan than to strip down and throw on a pair of Caterpillar yellow mesh short-shorts reminiscent of 7th grade gym class?

Harley Davidson: Sturgis is now in style! Harley needs to stick to making really cool boots and leathers and stay the hell away from anything that is knit or woven. Think more of the hipster girl stocking the shelves at Trader Joe's and less Larry the Cable Guy.

Mack Trucks: Mack's fall collection is apparently inspired by the 1993 Pepsi Points catalog. Who would actually pay for these items without getting an ice-cold beverage out of the deal?
