Band of Outsiders x Sperry E-mail
Friday, 07 December 2007
It makes sense that Sperry would allow such a menswear designer as Band of Outsiders' Scott Sternberg to produce his own variations on the classic Top-Sider. These brands complement each other so well. Of the multiple styles produced, the one that caught my attention is the Inside-Out version which features the "Made in China", sizing etc. information on the outside. My favorite feature has to be the elastic strap inside the shoe which does away with any need for laces. I'm definitely going to get a pair of these to replace the top-siders my ex-girlfriend threw away this year because I left them at her house and she couldn't take their smell of them any more. I could have bought some Gold Bond, but she could have just stored them in the garage or on her porch for me. Produced with a "Hemingway vibe", these will be available at select retailers, including Barneys NY, this upcoming Spring.

Gourmet Cease and Desisto E-mail
Friday, 07 December 2007
Gourmet shoes is a luxury collection inspired by the Italian-American heritage of its three co-creators: Jon Buscemi, Greg Lucci and Greg Johnson. In a perfect blending of better sportswear with street style, Gourmet Cease and Desisto (featured below) is a canvas hi-top which to me has a silhoutte reminscent (strangely) of both Js and Half-Cabs.  Each pair is made in Italy, and we are told there is a high-end jewelry line and sportswear in the making as well. For more information visit the Gourmet website.

Skkundefeated Cardigan E-mail
Tuesday, 04 December 2007
Undefeated just dropped their Fall/Holiday collection to some very select retailers. I was lucky enough to get one of the Skkundefeated Cardigans which is now my favorite garment that I own. The thing fits perfectly and I love the gold embroidery on the left breast and it's rather high neckline (not pictured). These are going to be hard-to-find pieces I reckon, and for the time being I was only able to find them available for online purchase at Aprtmnt. Undefeated has always received a good amount of hype for their sneaker game, and they are now making some big moves in cut-and-sew.

Silas Winter 2007 E-mail
Monday, 03 December 2007
Stop making flash sites. Seriously. No t-shirt is worth waiting 15 minutes of load time to see. Oh, there's an interactive lookbook and other clever do-dads? Well in that case, my time is pretty cheap and you can waste as much of it as you want. And by the way, everyone came to see your designs not your taste in music, so cut the built-in media players. I hate to speak for a generation, but we all have iTunes. That being said, your clothes are great.

Atikin Winter 2007 E-mail
Monday, 03 December 2007
Atikin is the brother-line to the Icelandic snowboard/fashion label, Nikita. Nikita has been around for a while and seems to be well-received by everyone, even though its presence is still relatively small here Stateside. Now in its second season, Atikin's Winter 2007 range is currently hitting the shelves of limited Nikita retailers. This brand is reminscent of WESC or CTRL and reminds us how Scandanavia is better than America, at least when it comes to producing fashion-aware 'action sports' brands. For more information on where you can purchase visit the Atikin website.

Paul Smith Chair Cufflinks E-mail
Friday, 30 November 2007
Novelty cufflinks are a dime a dozen these days, but they never seem to get old. It is such a great way to spice up a suit without wearing a Miami Vice blazer or Stacy Adams shoes. Here is a really nice set from British designer Paul Smith. The chair is subtly branded with his signature multi-stripe print and his name engraved on the opposite side. It is a great gift idea because, honestly, I am not spending £90 on these little numbers. Get them here.

Lee Jeans Are Stepping It Up. E-mail
Friday, 30 November 2007
Lee Jeans are a classic. By "classic" I mean that they are Levi's retarded cousin. You rocked them in your Olin Mills family portrait in grade school, then they got big in Scandinavia for a year in college (by "Scandinavia" I mean Urban Outfitters) when they jumped on the flared-leg bandwagon. Now they are back, doing things right with the slim fit. Lee Jeans appealing to the hipster? It is so perfect, why didn't we think of it before? They are expensive enough to be cool, not expensive enough to be pretentious, and brilliantly ironic. They even make a selvedge pair for under $200. Jackpot. Below are a few of the rad new styles you can get at villianssf.com. If you are not into them, they still offer these
