From their humble surf/skate origins, Ambiguous has been coming up big in fashion lately. Many of their Southern California counterparts have strongly felt the influence of streetwear creeping into their pieces. Ambiguous, however, has followed hipster fashion more closely with the incorporation of skinny jeans and trousers as well as wide-necked tees and heavy knits. With Fashion Weeks around the globe wrapping up, we noticed that in recent years the expansion of these events to many new cities has been common. The big four, New York, London, Paris and Milan have company now, with over 20 new sites popping up since 2000. Fashion week has become such a popular event due to the attention it receives from the local press and the marketability to sponsors. Founded in 2003, Moscow now hosts the largest in all of Eastern Europe. Also, giving the US West Coast a piece of the action in the same year, both Los Angeles and Portland joined in, the latter boasting "The World's First Green Fashion Week." The new additions this year include Johannesburg, South Africa and Lahore, Pakistan. Here are some excerpts from Portland's 2007 production that finished up last week. |

The Fall/Holiday 07 Collection, featuring items like highwater slacks and a boldly cut trench, is very avant garde and certainly a step in the right direction in the evolution of Los Angeles hipster fashion. David Michael Hershberger and Mitch Moseley founded the company in 2005 and have been really coming into their own through the last few seasons. Fashion label INHABIT specializes in luxury knitwear for men and women. Based out of New York, INHABIT uses top of the line materials and constructs their garments with impeccable quality. The women's line started in 2003 and was followed up by the men's launch in the fall of 2005.
