The De Gaulle computer bag by Quebec-based luggage label WANT is a nice switch from the standard messenger or laptop bag. With its vertical orientation, the bag is not only more ergonomic, but also interesting aesthetically. It comes with a detachable shoulder strap or can be carried by the handles and features WANT's ubiquitous mismatched zipper that is gold on one side and silver on the other. It is also available in brown, grey and red leather, as well as a version made from 100% organic cotton. Get it at Blackbird. |

The ~Elt is a truely innovative creation from Icelandic designer Sruli Recht. He set out to find a way to create this classic piece of every fashionable wardrobe without its most integral part, the buckle. Taking inspiration from the strength and simplicity of interlocking fingers, the ~Elt was born. Available in colors of flesh, bone, ash and rust and in widths of 3, 4 and 5 centimeters, the first buckle-less belt cuts straight to the core of functional fashion. Further utilizing natural elements, the toothed strap of leather is carved using a needle-fine jet of water. You can order this one-of-a-kind piece by sending a letter to

LOVA Design is presenting their debut line this season with fashion that takes us back a few decades. Reminiscent of the blissful post-war era of the 50's and 60's, LOVA fashion conjures the imagery of an old photograph of Dad next to his new powder blue convertible, horned-rim glasses, dog by his side...Mom in the kitchen, cigarette in her lips, preparing hors d'oeuvres for 'cocktail hour'. The modest designs representative of a beautifully indulgent and care-free lifestyle. The highlights of the line are their gingham shirts with minimalist button-down collars, a short sleeved military shirt (see recent obsession), and a pair of 'suit shorts' that even high fashion could not execute so well. Their website features a great 8mm video that really conveys the style of the brand, which is similar to, but infinitely more forgivable than the B.Son video in terms of relevance. All in all, LOVA Design is a very impressive new label that will surely become a regular to watch on the fashion landscape in coming seasons. |
