Singapore Design Festival E-mail
Wednesday, 28 November 2007
Featuring the independently curated Utterubbish exhibit, which showcases the work of 30 top international designers, the Singapore Design Festival opens tomorrow, November 28 and runs thru December 8.  Utterubbish: A Collection of Useless Ideas, offers workshops, exhibits, a conference and a concept store, and features Little Red Dots, Stefan Sagmeister, treasured trash, Jonathan Harris and many others.  Utterubbish also features the deconstructionist fashion design of Maison Martin Margiela (look at the martinmargiela.com site itself if you want an example that will make you want to tear down your own house to see how it was built). The common thread throughout is a respect and value for the role of design in promoting new ideas to encourage people not to blow up and/or piss on our earth, despite continued progress in the quest for real estate on the Moon. For more information and to check out other artists, check out the Singapore Design Festival site and Utterubbish.
